Michael T. Murray, N.D.
The world’s most renowned doctor of natural medicine, co-author of the Encyclopedia of Healing Foods and The Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine (Third Edition), Dr. Michael Murray draws on his extensive knowledge of food as medicine to promote optimum health.
Food affects our body, mind, and health in many remarkable ways. And certain foods work together in ways that are almost magical. In this groundbreaking new eating plan, Dr. Michael Murray identifies foods that act together to produce a total effect or force that is greater than the sum of the individual foods—what is known as a synergetic effect. Research shows there’s a tremendous synergetic effect that the healing force of nature exerts through each food and each food component. As the foods work together, they improve your energy and your physical and mental health.
Michael Murray’s years of research and clinical experience have led to a definitive understanding of how specific foods affect us. He presents his findings on phytochemicals and other nutrients and why they’re the new “vitamins”; discusses specific healing foods and how to combine them; and explains the principles to follow for eating the most synergetic foods every day. Here also are practical and prescriptive recipes and helpful guidelines for better and delicious eating. All this is in a usable, accessible, entertaining guide that you will turn to again and again as you develop your own personalized program for using food as medicine.

The Science Behind DoctorMurray.com
For the past thirty years, Dr. Murray has been compiling a massive database of original scientific studies from the medical literature. He has personally collected over 60,000 articles from the scientific literature, which provide strong evidence on the effectiveness of diet, vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other natural measures in the maintenance of health and the treatment of disease. It is from this constantly expanding database that Dr. Murray provides the answers on health and healing on DoctorMurray.com.
According to Dr. Murray
“One of the great myths about natural medicines is that they are not scientific. The fact of the matter is that for most common illnesses there is greater support in the medical literature for a natural approach than there is for drugs or surgery.”
— Dr. Michael Murray
Unfortunately, many people are not aware of the natural approach that can put them on the road to lifelong health. Dr. Murray has dedicated his life to educating physicians, patients, and the general public on the tremendous healing power of nature. In addition to his books, which have cumulative sales of over four million copies, Dr. Murray has written thousands of articles, appeared on hundreds of radio and TV programs, and lectured to hundreds of thousands of people nationwide.
As a consultant to the health food industry, Dr. Murray has been instrumental in bringing many effective natural products to North America, including:

Jonice Webb, PhD
Jonice Webb, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist, speaker, blogger, and best-selling author.
Dr. Webb wrote the first book ever written about Childhood Emotional Neglect and is recognized worldwide as the pioneer of Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN). She created the first and only online Childhood Emotional Neglect Recovery Program.
Dr. Webb has been interviewed about her topic on CBS Boston Evening News, NECN Morning News, and NPR. Her work has been cited by The Chicago Tribune, Psychology Today, Psychcentral.com and The Elephant Journal. Dr. Webb runs a private practice in Lexington, MA, where she specializes in treating Emotional Neglect in individuals, couples, and families.
Running on Empty is the first self-help book about Emotional Neglect: an invisible force from your childhood which you can’t see, but may be affecting you profoundly to this day. It is about what didn’t happen in your childhood, what wasn’t said, and what cannot be remembered.
Do you sometimes feel as if you’re just going through the motions in life? Are you good at looking and acting as if you’re fine, but secretly feel lonely and disconnected? Perhaps you have a fine life and are good at your work, but somehow it’s just not enough to make you happy.
If so, you are not alone. The world is full of people who have an innate sense that something is wrong with them. Who feel they live on the outside looking in, but have no explanation for their feeling and no way to put it into words. Who blame themselves for not being happier.
If you are one of these people, you may fear that you are not connected enough to your spouse, or that you don’t feel pleasure or love as profoundly as others do. Perhaps when you do experience strong emotions, you have difficulty understanding or tolerating them. You may drink too much, or eat too much, or risk too much, in an attempt to feel something good.
In over twenty years of practicing psychology, many people have arrived in Jonice Webb’s office, driven by the threat of divorce or the onset of depression, or by loneliness, and said, “”Something is missing in me.””
Running on Empty will give you clear strategies for how to heal, and offers a special chapter for mental health professionals. In the world of human suffering, this book is an Emotional Smart Bomb meant to eradicate the effects of an invisible enemy.
Jonice Webb, PhD
Since the publication of Running on Empty: Overcome Your Childhood Emotional Neglect, many thousands of people have learned that invisible Childhood Emotional Neglect, or CEN, has been weighing on them their entire lives, and are now in the process of recovery. Running on Empty No More: Transform Your Relationships will offer even more solutions for the effects of CEN on people’s lives: how to talk about CEN, and heal it, in relationships with partners, parents, and children.
George Mateljan
In 1996, George Mateljan sold Health Valley Foods because he felt that after over 25 years he had already inspired a number of others to establish companies producing convenient, good tasting, health food products. He believed that it was time to turn his energies and resources toward the next phase of helping people enjoy eating healthy foods. He thought about the fact that he had published five cookbooks celebrating the joys and benefits of health eating, including the bestsellers: Cooking without Fat and Baking Without Fat, which showed how to prepare good tasting foods without adding oil during the heating or cooking process. Oil was only added in moderation after cooking or baking to add moisture and flavor to recipes. Millions of people read and used George’s books, which means he was able to share the many benefits of his discoveries and experience with others.
George recognized that these books have served as a reference point for many people who are looking for good tasting ways to eat healthy. He decided to apply the idea of providing a reference for people looking for good tasting, convenient ways to eat health foods and establish a not-for-profit Foundation with that sole purpose. That’s why his latest healthy gift is World’s Healthiest Foods. It is a 5 color 880 page book that shows readers the best way to shop, store and cook the world’s healthiest foods in 15 minutes or less, without cooking the nutrition out. The book has sold over 100,000 copies and is the most successful book in the history of Midpoint Distribution.
The Foundation is committed to providing the latest scientific information about the foods and nutrients needed for good health. But equally important, you’ll not only find out which foods are the world’s healthiest, you can also get personalized information about how to prepare those foods so they fit your timetable and lifestyle. You’ll find recipes and food preparation methods that make the World’s Healthiest Foods quick and easy to prepare, and also taste delicious. George welcomes you to interact with him and the Foundation by asking questions, sharing ideas and even supporting the cause of the Foundation.
George is now finishing up the 2nd edition of The World’s Healthiest Foods and should be out in bookstores by late Spring.
